Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Robin Thicke is primed and ready for Something Else. "It was like everyone was saying the same things, worried about the same things and I just felt we needed something different right now. I asked myself do I have a light? What is that light? How can I spread it, share it and turn it into a Puff Daddy white linen Miami Beach party?" After his highly acclaimed 1.5 million selling album "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" garnering the smash hit "Lost Without U", a tireless schedule of touring and appearances Robin needed to sit back, reflect on the last 2 years and start anew.

"On the last album I wanted to let people into my walk of life and connect my life to them and this album is more about involving great minds, hearts and spirits around me. When I started writing songs I was already embracing people and now I just wanted to dance and laugh with them". With that spirit driving the creative process Robin has penned some of the best songs of his career from the retro meets modern groove of the first single "Magic", the upbeat celebration of "Sidestep" to the picturesque "Dreamworld" he is taking the listener on a musical journey that is truly unique, sexy and invigorating. Something Else is exactly the kind of record that the world needs right now to feel inspired again.

5 out of 5 stars Robin Thicke "Something Else"   January 9, 2009
This is a great new album! Nice variety of tracks, and the quality of sound that I love to hear in all his albums. Some people I know say that he has gone a bit comercial since a few albums ago, I forgot the name of it...the one with the song "Shooter" (original version.) "Something Else" to me has a combination of Robin Thicke soul groove and a tiny bit commerical (radio station friendly) music. Anyhow, I love it!!! Good stuff!!! I especially love the song "Dreamworld." I recommend listening to this album with some high quality head phones, what a treat!!

5 out of 5 stars Loving Robin Thicke!   January 9, 2009
Love Robin Thicke's new CD, Something Else. My favorite is Dream World. He's done it again - if you're a Robin fan, this is one you've gotta have.

5 out of 5 stars HE DOES IT AGAIN!   January 7, 2009
Robin Thicke does it again. He has so much SOUL, it is unbelieveable. I am looking forward to his next CD already, can't get enough!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic piece of work...   January 3, 2009
I am saddened that I didn't jump on this album sooner. I loved "The Evolution" and thought he couldn't top or even come close to the greatness of that album. I have been proven wrong and can't stop listening to "Loverman".

4 out of 5 stars excels in consistency   January 3, 2009
This is a very well done R&B album, and I give it the same rating as I would the original (Evolution of Robin Thicke) but it earns that distinction in a markedly different way.

Evolution impressed by having extraordinary stand out tracks (Can U Believe, 2 the Sky, Complicated, Teach U A Lesson, I need love and of course Lost without U) it also had songs that I skip over till today (Cocaine, Shooter, All Night long ...). My gripe with Evolution was that the pacing of the album is not so hot ... it goes from a nice slow jam like "I need love" to the craptastic "Wanna love u Girl" to the awesome "Can U Believe" back to "Shooter" and "Cocaine"

However, with "Something Else" what you get is a more mature and solidly R&B album than Evolution. The songs that resemble each other in tempo tend to cluster together more instead of being sprinkled all through the album ... and it makes for a more consistent listening experience.

None of the songs here really reach the heights of the ones on Evolution (standouts include Cry no more, Tie my hands, Loverman, Dreamworld, Ms Harmony) but they are pretty darned good.

The fact that the lows on this album aren't as 'low' as on Evolution, makes up for the fact that its highs are not as 'high' as on Evolution ... and thats okay with me, because it makes the album seem more complete.

enjoy.
