James Brown DVD Review November 14, 2008 Mr Browns Showmanship and band was lengendary, sadly the cameras failed to capture much of the flavor of the typical show, such as band and the Flames choreography which was usually flawless!

This isn't the best DVD. in fact the front cover is very misleading. The picture on the front cover is the concert I wanted to see, and that concert isn't apart of the package. I pretty upset as I am sure most people are since there are alot of used copies for sale and the DVD has only been out a couple months.
I've been waiting for this September 18, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I saw most of the great R'n'B performers of the '60's at Washington, DC's Howard Theater, but never got to see JB. I've been waiting for a performance DVD since the advent of video technology, and while this set has some production flaws , it more than fills the bill. Now, if they'll only release The TAMI Show on DVD....
sewatty-47 September 18, 2008 Cosidering that most popular (rock 'n' roll?) music since the 1970's has been either a joke or a blatant ripoff or materialistic (greed, money-making) emulation of the real thing, this dvd is essential for those music fans who are genuinely interested in where soul and the michael jackson's of the world came from. James Brown, along with Aretha, Al Green,Marvin Gaye and many other soul pioneers too numerous to mention are overlooked (unknown?) to the majority (all?) of today's music listeners. Buy this dvd and enrich your musical understanding, education and enjoyment to the highest level.
Beautiful and heartwarming seeing the great James Brown again September 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It was so heartwarming seeing James Brown again. I grew up feeling that James Brown, Aretha Franklin and the Temptations was the totality of everything positive that we, as children, needed in the ghetto in Chicago to give us direction and keep us within correction. Instead of getting into trouble, we formed groups and sang and danced to their marvelous songs. This item is beautiful, however, the ONLY thing missing is footage of the Famous Flames. I miss them dearly and was hoping that purchasing this set would return them to me. Hopefully, one day I will locate more vintage footage of James Brown and the Famous Flames. Nevertheless, this item still rates 5-stars.
