5 out of 5 stars India.Arie.......   August 23, 2007
First of all, I just love her name. It is beautiful. She is beautiful. Her music is truthful and honest and soothing. This particilar song is great beacuse it expresses to the listner, to look at the REAL person and not the outside trappings of "good hair vs. bad hair", real hair vs.weaves or wigs straight vs curly etc. It is the real person inside that counts. If we could get past all of judgements of one another, based on our superficial trappings of hair, clothes cars, houses etc.we would do a better job of being humans. Keep up the good work India.Arie.

5 out of 5 stars Going back to original roots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   May 13, 2006

The first time I heard this song was on a cable channel VH1. My two year old daughter and myself was watching this video. I took the time to listent to words of this song and notice that my two year old daughter was rocking back and forth to this song. When we saw the video like around the third time my two year old was singing the words to this song of India Irie I am not my hair. Too see my two year old daughter singing the words to this song only after seeing the video twice really amazed me. The part that my two year old daughter really put her most feeling into is when India Irie says good hair is straight or wavy and bad hair means you look like a slave. If I got a chance to speak to or see India Irie I would really tell her the effect that her song has on me and my two year old. Thanks India for bring us back to our original roots!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL JUNE   May 9, 2006

The first time I heard this song was on UPN 5-8-06. June can't get here fast enough for me. I have every one of her CDs and each one has brought a special meaning to me. So, those of you out there, who said you couldn't really get into her first two CDs-I implore you to re-listen to them. I'm sure you will find a song that speaks to you. On "Voyage to India-The Little Things"(2nd CD)-speaks volumes. The first CD-"Strenght, Courage & Wisdom" -a mantra I have adopted-especially after 9-11-01. So, don't just listen with your ears use your heart as well.

Unbelieveable song. The message is right on and groove is tight. Can't wait until June so I can cop the album. If it's anything like the previous two...Watch Out !!!!! India attended Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)here in Savannah, Georgia and we're sooooooooooo proud ! The Video featuring AKON is hott too. Man, you see her legs?

4 out of 5 stars feeling this cut   May 1, 2006

India Arie for me has been a Artist that I like some of her stuff&then there are other tracks that just never jump off for me,but this cut is banging.I dig the message big time&it speaks to people judging people by there hair&thinking without knowing what the person is about. this song is very timely&speaks directly on a very important point.really good track.
